Category: Category 5 – Innovative use of IT in Governance(Gold Award Winner) Project: Health Advice Call Centre Department: National Rural Health Mission, Project Description: The Health Advisory Call Centre is managed by National Rural Health Mission, Public Health Dept. Gov. of Maharashtra, through Toll-Free number 104. This Call Centre provides updated health information, medical and speciality advice to public health personnel (such as ASHAs, ANMs, AWWs, Lab technicians, Pharmacists, Health Assistants, School Health Program and Medical Officers) across Maharashtra. This service enables public health personnel to better diagnose, treat and refer the patients. Inside the call centre, trained paramedics and specialist doctors respond to calls using a call-centre application which uses 700+ medically validated algorithms to address a health issue. The call centre handles about 1000 calls per day, till now approximately 5 lakh calls have been processed. The project has received e-India awards 2012 for “Most innovative PPP initiative”.
Category: Category 5 – Innovative use of IT in Governance(Silver Award Winner) Project: PULL SMS Gateway for Collecting Daily Cane Crushing & Sugar Production Info from Sugar Factories Department: Sugar Commissionerate, Department of Cooperation Project Description: Through this Revolutionary initiative, Sugar Commissionerate has simplified the process of collecting data from factories for Sugar Cane crushing on daily basis, through SMS. Sugar factories now send an SMS daily in a pre-defined format, from their registered mobile numbers. The central server collects Sugarcane crushing statistics across Maharashtra and MIS reports are generated at various levels through a role-based system. The project also boasts auto- calculation of crushing, production and recovery parameters. More than 50,000 SMSs have been processed involving 170 sugar factories through this automated system. This has resulted in reduced time and efforts spent on the repetitive and manual task of data collection. As MIS reports are automatically being published on the web portal, this has resulted in transparency in sugarcane crushing business. Also, updated crushing reports are available on non-working days/holidays as well.

Project Description: Maharashtra among top 3 states India in R-APDRP part A project implementation, as part of Govt. Of India initiatives. A number of software modules are developed and implemented as part of the project which changed the way 2.1 Crores consumers and 70000 employees of MSEDCL conduct their utility business. This project facilitates Online applications from consumers, Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and meter data acquisition system using 35000 GSM/GPRS modems, Energy Audit Module, GIS-based Consumer Indexing, Asset Mapping and GIS-based Network Analysis system. Consumers can use Online Web Self Service to interact with MSEDCL, and pay bills online. Identity Access Management enables all 70000 employees to use single Sign-On technology to log into this software system. Integration Middleware enables existing systems such as Billing, ERP HRMS, Payroll, Fix Assets, Materials Management, e-Tendering etc to work as a single system. The system is hosted at the state of the art Tier-3 Data Center at MSEDCL head office and a Disaster Recovery Center at Nagpur with complete replication. Centralised Call Centre, available through Toll-Free Number (1800 2333 435) handles 5000 calls per day.
